On Saturday, October 21, 2017 members of treeOcode participated in the City of St. Catharines Fall tree giveaway. 500 trees a mix of Bur and Red Oak, Serviceberry and Eastern White Pine were distributed to eager residents. The line up began about 6:45 am with distribution beginning at 7:30. With each tree given away, a tree tag was provided that explained the eco-benefits that the tree would provide when it reached a certain diameter. The tags were very well received by the residents and generated some discussion of the value of the urban tree canopy.
