More than 30 years of growth is reduced to a disk of blond wood, as Niagara’s ash trees are levelled and hauled away. The remaining underground core will be ground away and the space filled with soil and turf, the boulevard will receive a new tree. I live in a neighbourhood populated with infected ash trees, and it is hard to see the trees coming down, just as we should be enjoying their majestic canopies. It is a necessary, but sad, reality…
